NEW SIRES A WINNER AT WEERAN ANGUS 52ND BULL SALE!

The Moore family and the Weeran team were thrilled with the results of their 52nd bull sale on Tuesday. The sale exceeded expectations. “There was great interest shown in our new reference sires, which gave a lot of performance depth through the entire catalogue across both age groups offered” said Weeran Principal Alec Moore.

69 Bulls were offered with 65 selling at auction to a top of $18,000 with an average of $10,015.
It is very humbling to see so many repeat clients bidding in the grandstand, along with new buyers joining the Weeran program. The market conditions have been very tough on our clients, yet they came to our sale and showed tremendous support and belief in our program. ‘We are very grateful’ said Alec Moore.

Our lead sire Landfall Mainland Q494 is a bull purchased in syndication with two SA studs. He has achieved so many runs on the board already. Used in 10 herds, and he is breeding so consistently. They were a very impressive line of 14 sons, topping at $18,000 and averaging $11,357. Connamara Twinhearts P64 averaged $10,571 and Dunoon Quambatook Q317 averaged $10,200. An exciting new chapter in the Weeran program with a number of new sires.

The top priced bull on the day was VHW22T151 who has been a stand out from a young age. Sired by Mainland and out of Weeran Prue Q39, he was purchased by the Rees family at Telangatuk. Long time buyers, having purchased their first Weeran bull in 1996. They regularly top the Hamilton weaner sales, including this year.

Second top price of $17,000 was achieved twice for two 18 month old spring drop bulls. Lot 45 going to new client Heatherlie Pastoral, and Lot 51 going to repeat buyer Nareen Station.

Volume buyers were Nareen Station, Malabar Farms, P and J Lewis, Gilbrae, and Yirraba Pastoral. Prices ranged from $6,000 to $18,000 with only 3 bulls remaining at the end of the day, so definitely something for everybody. A very active list of 54 registered buyers at the sale, with 87% purchasing.

We are looking forward to future sales featuring our new reference sires. A very exciting time at Weeran Angus!

Guest auctioneer Brian Leslie has been involved with the Weeran program for many years. The sale was settled by Kerr and Co.
