51 Sales for Weeran Angus

Weeran Angus were thrilled with their 17th spring bull sale last week, which was their 51st bull sale.  61 bulls were offered, with 58 selling at auction to a top of $20,000 and averaging $9,260.  With the current market conditions, the sale performed above expectation.  Alec Moore said, ‘he was very pleased with the result, and he was very excited with the line of bulls Weeran put up’.  They were very well received with solid bidding from beginning to end of the sale.  “There were many repeat buyers who we are very appreciative of their continued support,” said Alec.  “We also welcomed some new buyers into our program.”

Top price of $20,000 was paid for Lot 38 VHW21S678, and purchased by Dick Whale, IBMS on behalf of return client Willalooka Pastoral.  A very good Sydgen Enhance son with excellent body length and capacity and excellent structure.  He scored a top GTS grade 7.  Excellent growth with 600 day being top 3% for the breed at +153. Great fertility, feed efficient and a well-balanced ebv profile.  He stands up and has a lot of presence.  Reference Sire Sydgen Enhance has had many runs on the board throughout the industry, and also at Weeran Angus, topping previous sales.

Second top price bull at $18,000 was Lot 4 VHW21S405 purchased by repeat client Lachie McKenzie, Tarranlea. Sired by Chiltern Park Moe he has calving ease along with fantastic growth with his 600 day growth also being in the top 3% of the breed. He also has terrific capacity and a very good muscle pattern.  Both bulls are phenotypically excellent, with very impressive ebv profiles.  They have the whole package.

Volume buyers were Eddington Pastoral and Tooma Station both purchasing 6 bulls and both return buyers.

The lead reference sires were Sydgen Enhance averaging $13,500 with two sons, Witherswood Bronc averaging $12,666 with three sons, Murdeduke Quarterback averaging $9,600 with 10 sons and Chiltern Park Moe averaging $9,066 with 15 sons.

Most buyers attended the sale, with some online bidding through Elite Livestock Auctions.  The presence of online selling is an exciting chapter that is evolving, with 127 online viewers of the sale from four states of Australia! The online presence will only grow in the future and is a wonderful opportunity to get your brand out far and wide.
