Weeran Angus team grateful for support!
The team at Weeran Angus were so grateful to every person who attended their sale on Tuesday. After a huge year that has been challenging for so many, we were very happy to sell 46 of the 58 bulls on offer at auction, and a couple more selling following the sale. A top of $16,000 twice with an average of $9,240. The buyers who attended the sale were to be congratulated for getting through the tough seasons, and in a position to invest in the performance genetics offered by Weeran Angus. We had such great support from our return buyers, with some new buyers in the mix as well.
The two top price bulls were well received with spirited bidding. Lot 4 was knocked down to return client, Peter and Lisa Allen, South Boorook, Mortlake. Weeran Untouchable VHW23U572, by Witherswood Bronc out of Weeran N139. A data profile that is so impressive right across the board from start to finish. Used at Weeran over Autumn drop heifers. He is a long bodied bull who is very quiet with all growth ebv’s in the top 12% with a top 7% carcase weight. Coming out of the heifers at the end of August, he presented very well. “His sire, Witherswood Bronc consistently delivers with his sons always selling very well. “He is structurally perfect and just a very good, phenotypic animal”, said Alec Moore.
The second equal top-priced bull, Lot 28 Weeran Upstanding VHW23U418, was purchased by Lachie McKenzie, Tarrenlea. Lachie is a return buyer who is passionate about the beef industry. U418 is a son of the well proven sire Sterling Pacific 904, out of a Witherswood Bronc daughter, Weeran R728. “He has a beautiful phenotype, and very quiet with a well balanced performance data set”, said Alec Moore. A heifer bull with an EMA in the top 6% for the industry with very good Retail Beef Yield and indexing.

A number of volume buyers supported the sale, all being repeat clients.
The bulls presented very well and looked healthy with great temperament. The district has had some very good rain recently . . . as Alec Moore says, ‘a week is a long time in agriculture’. The cow numbers have certainly diminished in the district, so anyone who has managed to hold their stock and feed them, will be well rewarded.
The lead sire line who many people are talking about is Dunoon Recharge with 5 bulls selling averaging $11,400. Sterling Pacific sold very well in the autumn this year, and his three sons sold for an average of $10,667. Sterling Pacific topped the sale in the autumn, and he sired the equal top price bull at this sale in Lot 28. The very reliable Witherswood Bronc who has been in the Weeran program over many years, had 4 sons sell averaging $9,750, as well as being the sire of one of the top selling bulls in Lot 4. Landfall Mainland, Waitara Quidditch and Myers Fair N Square sons sold very well, with all three sire lines averaging $9,000. What was also pleasing to see, is the number of home bred Weeran bulls producing sale quality bulls. These young guns were put over heifers and it was exciting to see so many represented in our sale today.
Our thanks to our Weeran Team who have worked hard to keep the bulls moving forward, and the presentation of the bulls on sale day were a credit to them.
Capital Livestock and Property, Hamilton ran the sale, and agent Brady Hicks, said he was really happy with the result.
Guest auctioneer Brian Leslie did a great job on the microphone, with AuctionsPlus having interested cattle breeders watching the sale from 6 states around Australia.
3rd September 2025.
